My Cricket Story
Australia needs four runs to win, Jack Bracs needs a four to get the highest test score ever and England needs a wicket to win, all in just one ball! Griffin Nata comes into bowl. It’s short! Jack plays a Pull Shot for four! Australia wins the 2nd Test at Adelaide Oval and takes a 2-0 lead into the 3rd Test.
The Man of the Match is Jack Bracs. He has also got the highest Test score in an inning’s in ever. England must win the next three Test’s to win back the Ashes in the 2011/2012 Series.
It was still quite bright at 6:00pm in the middle of summer. I had just finished the second Test at Adelaide Oval in the backyard with my best friend, Griffin. “The next Test at the WACA will begin in a week,” I said to Griffin in a very happy voice.
We went inside and we both asked my mum, “Can we please have a glass of Solo.” It had been a long day of cricket, we were hungry and thirsty. I loved cricket and I wanted to play for Australia more than anything and I wanted to be sponsored by Gray-Nicolls and play for S.A. My best friend loves soccer and when he gets older he wants to play for Adelaide United, Australia and he wants to be better than Christianio Ronaldo.
We went into my room, turned on the TV and fed my pet lizard, Bradman. We took him out of his cage and we played with.
I was 13 years and a couple of months old and Griffin had just turned 13 years old. I‘m a bit taller than 160 centimetres and Griffin is easily over 165 centimetres. I have brown hair and blue eyes and I am pretty strong. Griffin has blondish, orangish hair and blue eyes.
We then started talking about our future and what we wanted to do when we get older and then we started talking about girls. Then out of the blue, my mum shouted out, “Dinner.” So we went down the hall to get our dinner and we got our Solo’s that we forgot to get.
For tea we had a good Aussie Barbeque. We had a burger and chicken wings with our Solo. After tea we watched sports tonight on 1 HD and then we watched a movie in bed and went to sleep.
When we got up, we got dressed in our cricket gear, had breakfast and left to go to the cricket. We were playing in the Grand Final against the best team in the league, that hasn’t lost a game all season.
I was the captain of the team. We won the toss and I chose to bowl first. Griffin would open the bowling for us. His first over went for a maiden with some great fielding. Next over Cameron would be bowling. His first over went for a maiden to, what a great start!
After 18 over’s we had got 0 wickets, but we had only given away 45 runs, but there was still 32 more over’s in their inning’s if we didn’t get them all out. The next 2 overs would be the last for Griffin and Cameron. Griffin’s over began with a couple of singles and then he struck! He had cleaned bowled him. Next ball was pitched on a line of off-stump and a good pitched length ball with out-swing. He played a defensive back foot block and he snicked it straight to me at second slip.
I threw the ball up in the air and shouted, “HOWZAT!” The umpire put up his finger and the batter walked off angrily. Griffin was on a Hatrick. I went up to him and I talked to him. I told him to bowl half a metre outside off-stump and on a good pitched length ball with out-swing. I brought in all the fielders. I had 3 slips, 2 gully’s, a silly mid-off, a mid-off, I had a cover and a short cover as well.
He came into bowl. It was exactly where I wanted it. The batter played at it nervously and it just missed the edge of the bat! We all shouted, “Bad luck Griff.” The last ball of the over went for 2 runs for 2 wickets. They were now 47 for 2 after 19 over’s. That was Griff’s last over because I used all his 10 over’s.
This was also going to be Cameron’s last over. After 5 balls Cameron’s over had went for 3 runs and no wickets. The next ball he blocked it and they started running for a quick single, but I was on to it fast a cover. I picked it up and I threw it at the stumps. IT HIT! We all went up and shouted as loud as we could, “HOWZAT!” The umpires went together and had a chat. They had made their decision. The umpire slowly put up his finger. HE WAS OUT!
It was the end of the 20th over and the end of Cameron’s 10 over’s, which meant I had used up all of his over’s too. I decided to give Mathew a bowl with his medium pacers for 5 over’s with Cheesie.
At the end of their 5 over spells Mathew had got no wicket and Cheesie had got no wickets with his fast deliveries as well, but they had kept the run rate down to 3.10 runs per over during those 10 over’s. Now I would put John and myself on. John was a right-arm off-spinner and I was a right-arm, wrist-spin, Leg-Spin bowler. He would bowl the first over out of us so I could bowl the last over if we didn’t get them all out.
In John’s and my self’s first over we had already got a wicket each. My next over went for 3 runs with no wickets. Then I got a wicket next over and then another wicket in the over after that. Unfortunately during those 3 over’s of mine, John’s had gone for a lot of runs. When I mean a lot of runs, I mean a lot of runs!
It was John’s 5th over and he went for a lot of runs again. My first bowl of my 5th over went for 3 runs. Then I got a wicket with my normal delivery, the Leg-Break, and then I got another wicket with the Wrong’un, 1 of my special deliveries. I WAS ON A HATRICK! I brought in all of the fielders again. I bowled, it pitched exactly where Shane Warne’s bowl of the century did. It spun heaps and hit the top of the off stump. HE WAS OUT! I got a HATRICK!
After 39.4 over’s, they were all out for 159 and I got 6 wickets for only 11 runs, 2 catches and a run out. We were doing very well.
Cameron and Mathew got their batting gear on. Cameron faced first. He got a quick single, then Matt was facing and he got out for a golden duck. Terrible start!
I was in! After just 2 balls. I was a right handed batter with a grey-Nicolls Viper 1000 in harrow size. The first ball was short and at my body. I played a powerful Pull Shot for 4! It was a great start for me. I reached my 20 very quickly and I was very confident. Cameron was batting slowly and wasn’t getting many runs. He was trying really hard and he was helping me by trying to get me on strike as much as he could.
I was on 49 not out. It was short, but it was wide of off-stump. I played a Cut Shot and it went straight for 4! I put my bat in the air and I took off my cap and waved it in the air and celebrated. By the time I had reached my 50 I had played all the shots in the book!
I was on 99 not out and Cameron was on 50 not out. I had the strike. After 24.5 over’s we were 156 for 1. A four, this ball, will win us the game by 9 wickets and it will get me my century!
He comes into bowl. It’s short and at my body! I played a Pull Shot! The ball hit the middle of my bat and went CRACK! It went straight for four! We had won the match by 9 wickets, we had won the under 17’s Cricket Grand Final for Sturt Cricket club, but most of all I had got my century!
My team came running on to the field. I grabbed a stump out of the ground and 1 of my team mates went out to the outfield to get the ball I had just hit for four. When he got back he had the ball in his hand and gave the ball to me to as a souvenir and I said, “Thanks.” I just couldn’t believe I had just won the under 17’s Grand Final for the Sturt Cricket Club.
The officials were giving out the awards and interviewed the other captain and myself. Man of the Series was me and Man of the Match was me, again. Then they gave out the runner up trophies to the other players and gave the other captain the Clubs runner up trophie. They gave the players of my team the winning trophies and they gave me the winning trophie for the club. I was very happy with the team for what they had done and so we celebrated winning.
Before we went to the Sturt Cricket Club room’s to celebrate and to have the presentation, I was packing up my bag cricket bag and other gear with Griff until quite a few people approached me.
There was someone from S.A.C.A. Cricket Australia and even someone there from Gray-Nicolls. There were also other people that wanted autographs and photos. They had bats, mini bats, balls, photos, autograph books and camera’s.
I asked the men from Cricket Australia, S.A.C.A. and Gray-Nicolls if I could do the autographs and photo’s first. They said, “Yes” So I got going.
I had almost finished with the people and then pretty much all the news reporters. I finished off the people trying to get the autographs and other things and then I got interviewed by the news reporters after they interviewed the people from Cricket Australia and such. I signed the papers they wanted me to sign. They gave me other papers and I left. I couldn’t believe after 1 match I was so famous.
On the way back to the room’s I was thinking about my future of cricket. For me it looked really good. Now I was playing for my school, Sturt Cricket Club, S.A.P.S.A.S.A. S.A.C.A. AND Cricket Australia. I also had a sponsorship with Gray-Nicolls, which was even more amazing because I had been with Gray-Nicolls all my life and they have such great bats and other gear.
At the Sturt Cricket Club room’s I made a little presentation and the team put up the trophie we won from the game. Now it was time for the presentations. I won the best fielding award, the best batting award, the best bowling award, a captain’s award and I got the normal participant award.
At the age of 16 I had a girlfriend, stopped school, I was playing for South Australia and I still had the sponsorship with Gray-Nicolls. Nothing was going to stop me now from playing for Australia!
At the age of 17 I had made my Debut for Australia at the GABBA against England. I made a century in both inning’s and 5 wickets bowling in both inning’s. We won the first the first Test of the 2015/2016 Ashes Series in Australia.
This time it was real!
Australia needs for runs to win, England need a wicket to win at Adelaide Oval and Jack Bracs needs a four to get the highest Test score in history, all in just 1 ball! Hooker Knight comes into bowl. It’s short and at his body! He plays the Pull Shot! CRACK! The ball hit the bat right in the middle and gone straight for four!
Australia wins the 2nd Test at Adelaide Oval. Jack Bracs is Man of the Match and he has got the highest score in Test History. He has also got the best figures for bowling and fielding as well. Australia have now taken a 2-0 lead into the third Test. England must win the last 3 Test Matches to regain the Ashes in the 2015/2016 Ashes Series.
I’m Jack Bracs and this is My Cricket Story.
